Lauren.png

Lauren Lesniakowski has completed her 5th and final year of study in the Architectural Engineering Program at Penn State University. In May 2019, she graduated with a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering degree, with a focus in structural systems. She also graduated with two minors; Architectural Studies and Residential Construction. Lauren was President of the National Association of Home Builders Student Chapter. She was also a member of the Student Society of Architectural Engineers (SSAE) and Structural Engineers Association of Pennsylvania (SEAoP).

During the summer of 2018, Lauren partook in a structural engineering internship with one of Pittsburgh’s Fastest Growing Companies, PVE. PVE is a full-service engineering consulting firm concentrating in the design of new buildings, bridges and land development for a wide variety of clients. These experiences provided her with insight into the day to day operations of an engineering firm. It was at PVE that Lauren put what she learned in school to use, including but not limited to completing hand calculations, analyzing building components in BIM software, and reading existing and new drawings to finalize designs or start new ones. Since the completion of her FE exam Lauren has become an EIT and accepted a position at PVE for full-time employment starting in the summer of 2019. In the short term, she looks forward to beginning work as a structural engineer to gain knowledge and practical experience in the structural engineering profession and to obtain her license as a Professional Engineer (PE).

Outside of academics, Lauren has a few other hobbies and activities. She enjoys photography, skiing, and traveling. She has been to over 50 different places around the world and hopes to continue her travels once she graduates. Over the summer of 2017, Lauren spent a semester abroad in Rome while she pursued her architectural studies minor. When she is visiting these places, she enjoys taking the time to photograph her adventures and then spending the time to edit these photos. During her last two semesters, Lauren also held a job at a local pet store while maintaining her class schedule and will continue to work there through these next two semesters until graduation.
